Omkareshwar Temple

Omkareshwar Temple is fourth Jyotirling out of twelve Jyotirlingas in India, This Jyotirling is located on the banks of river Narmada in Madhya Pradesh. Omkareshwar Temple is approxmately 77Km from Indore and 13Km from Mortakka. According to Hindu belief, Jyothirlinga is called the place where Bhagwan Shiva appeared in Jyoti form.Sri Omkareshwar Jyotirling is the only Jyotirling which is situated on the north shore of Narmada. Here Bhagwan Shiva has appeared in the form of Omkar. And it is believed that Bhagwan Shiva rest here after visiting three Lok every day. Therefore, Shayan Aarti of  God Shiva everyday, and the devotees and pilgrims come here especially for Shayan Darshan.

Omkareshwar Temple Parikrama: In Omkareshwar, devotees carry the Narmada water to fulfill their wishes, and perform parikrama of Bhagwan Omkareshwar and Mandhata Mountain. This Parikrama Path is about 7 km long, and on Parikrama Path, several temples and archeological importance are situtated , It is mandatory to visit those temples during parikrama. Temples that are available for darshan during parikrama are :

• Gauri Somnath Mandir
• Siddhnath temple
• Ashapura Devi Temple

Omkareshwar Temple Darshan Timing:

In the Omkareshwar temple, regular worship has been going on for centuries. The information about the time of worship, archana darshan is as follows:

Temple opening hours 5 o’clock in the morning – Mangala Aarti and Naavidya Bhog
5:30 am tomorrow – Darshan Start

Midday Body Bhog:
12:20 pm to 1:10 pm – Midday Bhog
From 1:15 pm – resumes Darshan

Evening Darshan:
From 4 pm – Jyotirling Darshan

Shayan Arti:
8:30 pm to 9:00 pm – Shayan aarti
Night 9: 00 to 9:35 pm – Shayan Darshan

How to Reach Omkareshwar Temple : Omkareshwar is situated in the middle of India, near the main town of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The nearest airports to Omkareshwar are Indore (77km away) and Ujjain (133km distance). The nearest railway station is Mortakka(12 km away), The nearest major railway station is Indore (77 km). You can also board a bus from Ujjain, Indore or Khandwa.
